I was born in New Zealand in a town called Palmerston North, effectionately known as Palmy, which is a 2 hour drive to Wellington, the capital, in the south and a 7 hour drive to Auckland in the north. Situated on the banks of the Manawatu River nestled at the foot of the impressive Tararua Mountain Range, it has a population of approx. 75000. Take a short trip to Himitangi/Foxton beaches, or fishing at Castle Point on the West Coast.
Palmerston North is a vibrant youthful city with an active student population with Massey University, nearby Linton Military Camp, and the New Zealand Dairy Research Institute.
The Auckland region has three harbours, two mountain ranges, 48 volcanic cones and more than 50 islands. Known as the "city of sails", it is normally the gateway to New Zealand. Hurtle down the side of the Sky Tower - the Southern Hemisphere's tallest building standing at 328 metres, visit Rainbow's End theme park. or visit lush rainforests and black sand beaches. Close by, take a trip to the Bay of Islands, and enjoy a fishing or scenic charter. Visit the "hole in the rock". I could go on and on. New Zealand, well worth a visit.....
Of course, New Zealand sport is best known for the Rugby Union team the All Blacks |
